The first 3 or 4 miles I felt as though my legs just weren't working but after that I was ok. However, I did not run up any of the big hills. But is seems that currently at my fitness level I may get more speed out of conserving my energy for the flat and walking up the hills.
I actually felt reasonably OK for the whole run until the last loop. At the top of Burning Calfs Hill I really did not know if I could start running again, my legs had given up about half way up. But, through stubbornness and working on the philosophy that 'the quicker I finished the quicker the pain would stop' I carried on running right until the end. Though at every gate it was taking longer and longer to start running again. I'm quite happy with my performance on this run, which somehow I finished in 3hours and 16minutes, giving a per mile time of 14minutes!
