I carried the 48 lbs rucksack plus 2 litres of water. I have modified the rucksack straps to stop them slipping, because every few hundred yards I was tightening the shoulder straps. This modification has worked well, I didn't have to adjust my shoulder straps at all during the run.
The Troserch X roads route is 4.32 miles long and has a total elevation gain of 463ft which I finished in 56 minutes dripping in sweat as the temperature was 23 degrees Celsius. I only went around once as I didn't really have much time because I needed to pack my bergen with the equipment I need for an overnight camp on Pen y fan on Saturday, I can't pack it tomorrow or Friday as I'll be working until the early hours. I packed everything I need not including food or water and the weight came to 26 lbs so I put a 5kg disk at the top just underneath my waterproofs and tied it to the centre strap on the bergen so it cannot slip down inside the bergen. This has made the bergen 37.5 lbs, just over the weight requirement for the Fan Dance. I packed like this because this will be the last chance I'll have for a 'dress rehearsal' of the Fan Dance before the official race day. I just need to add my food, which will be a few packs of dried something 'n rice, A LARGE pack of Haribos, some cereal bars and my Ready Brek for the morning. Then I've got the 3 litres of water to add.
