Distance 10.08 miles climbing 1,247ft in 2 hours 40 minutes carrying a 45lb bergen. Socks full of blood, blisters on hips from bergen hip belt.... 'Nuf said!
Todays run I am EXTREMELY pleased with, exactly the same route, exactly the same weight PLUS 2.5 litres of water.. OK there was pain, but not injury pain, just the normal extreme exercise related pain. However, there were no blisters and no blood. No blisters from the bergen but I do have red pressure/friction marks on my shoulders. An added bonus is that I did the route in 2 hours 29 minutes! I'm chuffed to bits, a whole 11 minutes quicker!
The weather today is very warm, very sunny and although most of the route is under cover of trees, Burning Calfs has no cover whatsoever and there were some iffy moments. Half way up Burning Calfs Hill the first time, I suddenly felt dizzy and felt as though I was about to throw up, I stopped but the path still looked like it was moving and I almost fell over. This happened a couple of times at various point on the route after that.
I'm looking forward to the next run now.
